Way back on August 13, 2015 — we know, we know, we have a lot of catching up to do, as we mentioned before — Dermot turned 1. He had a Dr. Seuss-themed birthday, complete with lots of great decorations, a scrumptious cake (thanks, Auntie!), Lorax and green eggs and ham treats, and lots and lots of presents from his generous friends and family!
Oh, and Dermot quite enjoyed his smash cake, as the below video will attest!
It’s been over a year since we’ve last posted, so for those of you who check the blog for your Dermot updates… we’re sorry!
We have quite a lot of catching up to do. Dermot has started walking, talking, and otherwise acting like the toddler that he is instead of the baby that he was. We have photos and videos of most of it (if not all of it), and we’ll plan to share them here, we swear!
We’ve also been lucky enough to welcome two new members into our family, and while Dermot’s younger brother Emmet is no longer with us, Dermot and Emmet’s younger brother Finn is almost a month old, and is fighting every day to be able to eventually come home with Mom, Dad and Dermot. (Please see the Emmet and Finn blog if you’d like periodic updates about Finn’s progress.)
So… we have plenty of updating to do. And we will try to chip away at the backlog with posts over the coming weeks. In the meantime, please enjoy a few pictures from Dermot’s Sesame Street-themed birthday party, as our big guy turned 2 on Saturday, August 13!
Plenty more pictures and updates to come, but just wanted to share with everyone that Dermot had a great 1st birthday! His cousin Colin slept over, but not before helping Dermot play his new game during a birthday dinner out at Bertucci’s.
It was a very productive week leading up to the 11 month mark. He started with a crab crawl of sorts. And the tooth… well, good luck trying to get a picture of it. Any time I ask him to show me his teeth I swear he seals his lips shut. Continues sleeping well, LOVES food and when he reached 11 months we slowly started introducing a little bit (few ounces) of cow’s milk each day. He is a fan of that too.
Climbing on and into everything!
We will miss those little wrist folds when they are gone.
“Mom, you expect me to lay on this elephant for another monthly picture? See you later!”
Since Dermot will be 11 months old in a few days we figured it was time for a quick 10 month update! His personality is emerging and changing as he becomes more independent. He still has no teeth, but boy does he munch on anything you will give him. Cheerios are a new favorite. He is rolling and scooting all over the place. He is weighing in at 22 lbs 2.2 oz. I think the pictures below explain our (not so) little guy.
Dermot is rolling all around! He can get from one side of the room to the other pretty quickly. We are waiting to turn around one day and have him crawling all over the place (not yet though, because Mom & Dad still have to finish ‘baby-proofing’). He still loves ALL food and is eating more pieces/chunks and practicing chewing. He continues to sleep around 11 hours per night. He loves peek-a-boo, making raspberries and is continuing to discover his tongue more/stick it out. One of his favorite things is listening to music and dancing. At his 9 month check-up he tipped the scales at 21 lbs. 13.2 oz. We are very proud of him!
All smiles for our photo shoot!
Caught him mid-sneeze.
LOVES eating his feet and pulling his socks off.
Obligatory pic sans-clothes so you can see the rolls.
Dermot LOVES his food… he recently tried yogurt, peaches, blueberries, roasted peppers, plums and pumpkins He enjoys going for runs and listening to music. He is weighing in at around 21 lbs. He is moving more and more (his legs are always kicking!) and he likes to be on the go.
Always happy when I can grab my toes.
When I fall over and get a break from sitting up I am happy too.
7 months has flown by (once again this post is late!) Dermot is gaining weight each day and starts doing something new all of the time. He likes making noises with his mouth (his version of raspberries), he still loves music and he continues to try new food and love it but sweet potatoes are a favorite around here. According to our scale at home he is weighing in at about 19lbs (up from 6lbs 1oz at birth!). He has been sleeping through the night since around 3 1/2 months, but over the past two months he has made his bed time a bit earlier every few weeks (on his own). He now goes to bed around 7-7:30pm and wakes up raring to go around 6:15-6:45am.
